Monette Mabel Johnson was born on August 14, 1918, in Villa Ridge,
Illinois, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harrell.
In 1935 she was united in holy matrimony to James H. Johnson. Seven
children were born to this union. They relocated to Jackson, Michigan in
1954.
Mother Johnson accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of
the Church of God in Christ in Jackson, Michigan.
In 1999, she moved to Olympia Fields with her husband. On December 9,
2007, she joined The Emmaus Community.
Mother Johnson was a loving mother always nurturing and encouraging
her children and providing an environment of constant verbal support and
unconditional love.
Mother Johnson transitioned on January 30, 2012
Mother Johnsons husband of 67 years preceded her in death on January 9,
2003. Her parents and four siblings Albert Harrell, Oneta Williams, Edna
Houston, and Walter (W.T.) Harrell have also preceded her in death.
Remaining to cherish her memory are three daughters, Joyce Hudson, Willett
Hudson and Mauryce (Leoman) Jackson of Houston, TX and four sons,
James F. of Springfield, MA., Thelbert of Jackson, MI, Jerry (Marguerite),
and Larry (Ida) of Merced, Ca; 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren,
and 11 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other
loving family members. In lieu of flowers please make memorials in Monette's name to The Emmaus Community for youth retreat.
