Kurt Allan Bushno passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the age of 57 at St. James Hospice in Chicago Heights, Illinois after a courageous battle with ALS.  Kurt is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Stella Bushno of Gold Canyon, Arizona.  Kurt is survived by his loving wife, Sherry and his three step-children, Kristin Becker (Cantway), Kevin Cantway, and Kyle Cantway; his 3 grandchildren, Kaden, Kendall and Skylar; mother-in-law, Leona Carlson; brother-in-laws Dan Carlson and David Carlson; sister-in-laws Kandy Smith (Scott), Kris Bruns (Rick) and Kathy Baker; step-mom Dorothy Bushno, his four brothers, Paul, Joe, George (Donna) and Rick (Dee); his nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Kurt touched many. Everyone that met him remembered him.  He was full of life, full of laughter.  He loved to make people laugh.  He could tell a joke, using movie lines, funny faces and crazy voices.  If someone was down he would try to make them laugh or at least smile.  His generosity was known far and wide.  If something involved money, he would be the first to contribute, the first to pay, the first to donate to a worthy cause.

Kurt’s work ethic was well known.  He had a passion for and unwavering commitment to a “job well done”.  He would be the first to ask for overtime, the first to help cover someone’s shift, the first to arrive to work to plan for the day. Kurt loved sports of all kinds. He was an awesome athlete himself.  Hockey was his sport of choice even though he excelled at many.  He followed his beloved Blackhawks and Cubs and was thrilled to see the Hawks win the Stanley Cup and the Cubs win the World Series.

Kurt had a passion for pizza, classic rock and telling stories that would make you laugh until you cried.  The 57 years of impact he had on all who had the honor of knowing him will continue to ripple through the hearts and lives of so many more.  We are forever changed and a million times grateful for his unparalleled heart and fun-loving, hilarious spirit.  We celebrate him, all he brought to this world, and remind everyone that “we’re all just walking each other home”.
