Mildred M. Worthy, 92, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Chicago Heights, IL passed away on March 15, 2011 at St. Josephs Home in Springfield. She was born May 11, 1918 in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Otto L. and Sophie Kraegel Meyer. Mildred married Earl C. Worthy on June 4, 1939 in Chicago Heights; he preceded her in death on November 10, 1968. She was a graduate of Bloom Township High School and had worked for over 30 years with the Chicago Heights Credit Bureau before retiring in 1981. Mildred was a life member of St. Johns Faith United Church of Christ in Chicago Heights and had recently attended First Presbyterian Church in Springfield. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her family. Mildred was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Audrey Krueger; niece, Janet Turcanny; and nephew, Larry Krueger. She is survived by one son, Dr. Thomas (Patricia) Worthy of Walnut Creek, CA; a daughter, Marian Worthy of Springfield; two grandchildren, James Thomas (Jennifer) Worthy of Grass Valley, CA and Sharon Elizabeth (Russell) McConnell of Springfield; one great-grandaughter; Mackinze Hughes; and a nephew, Robert Krueger. Resting at Hirsch West End Chapel, 3501 W Lincoln Hwy, Matteson, IL, where friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Deacon Joan Worthy Smith, officiating.
