Andrew Allen Turner, 73, of Park Forest, a beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend departed this life on December 13, 2023. He was born in Columbus, Mississippi on February 7, 1950 to the union of Jasper Sr. and Julia Mary Turner.. In 1955 the family moved to Ford Heights, IL. This was to escape racial violence and pursue economic and educational opportunities . In additional to this to obtain freedom from the oppression of "Jim Crow Laws". Andrew graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights and attended Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL. He began his work career at General Electric (GE) until GE was purchased by Hobart. He stayed on as an employee of Hobart. Andrew was a strong advocate for a union at Hobart. He worked there for several years until the company relocated south. He worked at Goochs Foods in Steger, IL until he was offered a job at "Cracker Barrel" as a Night Maintenance Worker.. While there he received several awards and accommodations for his achievements, for example ,certificate of achievement, "ServSafe Food Handler Achievement", "The Belonging Award" and "Beat of the Barrel Award" plus others while employed at Cracker Barrel. Andrew worked for Cracker Barrel for over 30 years and retired in 2022. Andrew confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and united with ST. James C.M.E. Church. He was an active member of the Sunday School department and the Youth Choir. Andrews parents and three brothers preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: A sister: Mary Lewis (Ron) Nieces: Lea Queen, Chay Graham (Chris), Paige Turner & Autumn Jones, Nephews: Darrius, Kendall (Jessica), & Delon Turner, and many more Cousins, and friends.
