Barbara J. Cahill, 87, Park Forest, passed away peacefully at 12:55 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Vitas Hospice Care, St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights. She was surrounded by her boys and pet dog, Babs, in her final hours. Barbara was born March 17, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Urban and Eula (Michael) Widman. She grew up in Midlothian, IL, and in 1946 graduated from St. Louis Academy in Chicago. Barbara married James Cahill on January 27, 1951 at St. Christopher in Midlothian. Barbara retired from St. James Hospital after nearly 23 years of service working as a laboratory technician. She enjoyed gardening and attending her grandchildrens scholastic, musical and athletic events. Barbara is survived by her five sons Christopher, Guy (Jane), Michael (Mary), James Jr., and Timothy (Amy); ten grandchildren Brooke, Libbey, Peter, Josh, Matthew Cahill, Jonathan, Karly, Jack, Sara and Tommy Cahill; a brother Michael (the late Dorothy) Widman and, ten nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James, parents Urban and Eula, sister Margaret (Tony) Carmen. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Liborious Church, 3440 Halstead Blvd., Steger, IL at 11:30 a.m. preceded an hour earlier by a Gathering at 10:30 a.m. with words of expression at 11:15 a.m. Interment will occur at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
