Betty L Martin Cosme was born Margaret Lee McGuire in Sandoval, Illinois on July 24, 1917. Betty married George Martin in 1940 and was a widow for 17 years after his death in 1961until her marriage in 1978 to the late Luke G Cosme of Lincolnshire area of Crete. Betty passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the age of 94. Betty enjoyed a successful career as a Vice President of the American National Bank, now known as the Fifth Third Bank. She also was a member of the Crete United Methodist Church, Crete Womans Club, Crete Historical Society, Altrusa Club of South Suburbia and American Business Club. She was honored as the Woman of the year in 1971 by the American Business Club and as a "Lady of Distinction" of the Crete Womans Club in 2009.
