Charles Caruso passed away on December 11, 2013 from natural causes, longtime resident of Park Forest, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years Agnes L. Caruso in 2010. Mr. Caruso was born in Lancaster County, PA on July 14, 1915 but spent the majority of his childhood and early life in Denver, Colorado, where he started working for Swift & Company in 1932. Following WWII, he was transferred to Swift headquarters in Chicago, where he completed a 48 year career with Swift, which included assignments in Colorado, Wyoming, Indian and Illinois. Mr. Caruso retired for Swift in 1980 as a recognized expert in the world-wide production and sale of animal by-products for the meat packing industry. He was a long time member of St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Park Forest and was active in the formation of the youth education program at the church. He is survived by two sons Charles M. (Carmen) Caruso of Albuquerque, N.M. and Michael J. (Carol) Caruso of Park Forest, IL; cherished grandfather of Anna Maria, Albuquerque. Visitation Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from Lain Sullivan Funeral Home 50 Westwood Dr., just west of Western Ave. off of Norwood, Park Forest, IL to St. Irenaeus Church, 78 Cherry St., Park Forest, IL. Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Steger, IL.
