Clarence Peterson was born May 12, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second eldest son born to loving parents, James and Vivian Peterson. He began his primary education at Willard Elementary School and Du Sable High School. After high school, Clarence began his journey across the continents of Europe and Asia. He enlisted with the United States Army in 1960 at the age of twenty-six. Serving over 9 years of Military Service. Clarence received the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman (Rifle). He was honorably discharged in 1968. While on active duty, Clarence met the love of his life, Yung Ja Choi. Clarence and Yung Ja were united in marriage and from their union of twenty years was born a daughter, Samora. Clarence second love was the arts and jazz music. He was an excellent artist. His God gifted talents and creativity gave him his artistic ability to draw many types of pictures. Some of the pictures were of his childhood friends, drawing them while sitting on his front porch. His love of collectible model cars, airplanes and playing the saxophone was his enjoyment. Clarence received a service award from the United States Government for an honorable career of 25 years service to the Government of the United States given by The United States Postal Service, dated September 16, 1992. For eighty-three years, Clarence was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all those who knew him. Clarence departed this life on May 23, 2017 at 2:27 a.m. at Lexington Health Care. He began his new journey this day, leaving his cherished daughter (Samora), Son-in-Law (Phil Sr.), Granddaughter (Victoria), Grandson (Phillip Jr.), his sibling Addie Peterson, Tanya Miller and Adrian Miller, and nieces and nephews Linda, Cynthia, Edward, Eric and host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James Peterson and Vivian Miller, and brothers Herbert Peterson and Avon Miller.
