Dale Pieper, 83, of Matteson, Illinois, passed away on May 7, 2024, in Olympia Fields, Illinois. He was born on June 7, 1940, in Matteson and was a lifelong resident. Dale dedicated the span of his career as a golf superintendent where he took great pride in not only the grounds he maintained but also in the relationships he built. He went as far as learning Spanish so he could befriend his employees. Dale's dedication and wit left a lasting impact on those he worked with and the courses he cared for. He was a devoted member of the Lutheran community and took great pride in his German heritage. Dale never met a stranger; he called everyone he met a friend. Dale's friends came from all walks of life, and they all knew his friendship came without judgement. He had a talent for finding the good in everyone and always had an encouraging word at just the right times. Dale treated every person with respect and kindness and would extend a hand or hug to absolutely anyone. Dale was always ready to tell a joke. Oftentimes the best part of hearing his jokes was the sound of his unique laugh as he would without fail laugh at all his own jokes. Dale cherished his pet cat, Baby. He was an animal lover who kept his front door open to even the wild creatures outside as he enthusiastically welcomed them to roam his home freely for a quick snack. Dale was a remarkable storyteller who lived a life fit for the making of a Hollywood movie! He is survived by his daughter Lorin (Brad) Sucic; son Scott (Danielle) Pieper; grandchildren Stefani (Bernie) Christenson, Jaymie (Nic) Wolf, Michael Sucic, Jacey (Dan) Curtin, Taylor Pieper, and Scott Pieper; nine cherished great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Diane. Dale was preceded in death by his father Walter Pieper, mother Marcia Pieper, and older brother William. Dale Pieper will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will always be most remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and most importantly, his unwavering love for his family. Please join the family at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Matteson, IL, on May 15 at 11 a.m. for a graveside service.
