In Loving Memory of Dan E. Sharknas

Dan E. Sharknas, 89, of Homewood, IL, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.

Born on July 22, 1936 in West Frankfort, IL, Dan was the son of Gwen and Tony Sharknas.

Dan is survived by his wife, Jennifer, sister, Celeste (Kenneth) Kirschner, nieces Valerie (John) Dakarian and Carly Kirschner, stepdaughters Cheri (Terry) McPolin, Jeri (Rob) Brooke, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tony Sharknas, Gwen Velasco and stepfather Efren Velasco.

A graveside service will be held on July 6, 2026, 11:00 AM at Assumption Cemetery, 19500 S Cottage Grove Ave, Glenwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Suburban Humane Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Guiding Eyes for the Blind, in honor of Dan's life and legacy.

Though deeply missed, Dan will be remembered always for his love, advice, strength, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
