David H. Losby, age 82, of Park Forest, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin to Harold and C Louise Losby. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, his sons James (Lisa) and Eric (Kari), grandchildren Madelyne and Nicholas, and brother Andrew (Mary). He was predeceased by his parents and sister Florence Losby (Mrs. Brady Twiggs). His is also survived by cousins, nephews, and niecesHe was a retired insurance professional from CNA Insurance Companies and a consulting technical writer. He held numerous professional insurance designations including Fellow, Life Management Institute and Associate from the Life Office Management Association. He also held a designation of Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College of Life Underwriters.
David graduated from Sparta High School and the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse Campus with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in English and minoring in Sociology.
He was a veteran of the US Naval Reserve, and served on active duty in the Pacific Fleet.
David participated in YMCA Indian Guides and Boy Scout activities with his sons, in church activities, and school committees.
His life-long church activities included holding various offices, attending state, national, and international conferences. Local church activities included voice-over radio announcing, Faith Theater committee, church boards, Bible Study, reading and discussion groups, and assisting with the church newsletter.
His interests included reading, writing, music, personal finance, family history, and occasional photography.
Music activities included marching band, concert band, pep band, swing band, and combo for dances, listening to a wide variety of music including classical and jazz, and attending occasional symphony concerts.
Drama activities included play-reading/discussion groups (through which he met his wife), attending Illinois Theater Center, The Goodman Theater, and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Other entertainment events included Faith Church Theater, GSU Center for the Performing Arts.
