Glenn Franklin Benjamin, age 60, passed away Wednesday, July 20th, 2016, from complications from Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the University of Indiana. He was surrounded by every member of his 4-generation family at the time of passing.
Glenn was born on October 19, 1955, in Chicago, IL and was a lifelong resident of the Chicagoland area. He worked as a lineman and welder for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years and most recently drove for Lyft in Chicago, combining his love of driving with his love of meeting new people. He was a 28-year member of Narcotics Anonymous and most recently took up endurance sports, completing 17 full marathons, 20 half marathons and 10 triathlons. He was a generous volunteer with the Treasure Chest Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Semper Fi Fund as well as a long list of Charity Runs.
He is survived by his parents Patricia and David Benjamin, his sisters Donna Collier & Diane Hartenbach, his brother Dave Benjamin, his daughters Katy & Linda Benjamin, his nieces Devan Kwiatkowski-Benjamin, Julie Benjamin & Hallie Workman, nephews Ben Collier, Noah Collier & Joseph Workman, Jr., as well as his great-nephew Jeremiah Shorter.
Family and Friend will gather for a Memorial Visitation Tuesday, August 2, 2016 3-p.m.-8p.m.
