James Warren Gurganus of Park Forest,Illinois, passed away

peacefully on July 1,2026.

Born on March 31, 1935 in Harvey, Illinois to Wiley J. and Elnora Gurganus, James graduated from Harding University and went on

to work as a School Teacher first at Portageville, Missouri then at Rickover Junior High School in Sauk Village, Illinois.

James was a devoted husband and father who loved gardening, traveling, and serving as an Elder at Park Forest Church of Christ.

He was best known for his generosity, faith, gregarious personality, and humor.

James is survived by wife, Regenia; children James Jr. and Nathan; grandchildren Lucie and Wyatt; and siblings Betty, Wayne,

Ruth, John, Larry, and George.

James will be reunited in heaven with parents Wiley and Elnora; siblings Eula, Wayne, and Charles; and beloved grandson Ethan

James.

A visitation will be held on July 8 from 10:00am to 11:00am. The funeral service

will follow immediately at 11:00am, both at Park Forest Church of Christ at

4010 206th St in Matteson, Illinois.
