Jeffrey Arthur Seeman passed away at home on February 3, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 83.Jeff was born in Chicago to Arthur and Merle (Weber) Seeman, grew up on the north side and attended Carl Schurz High School in Irving Park. An outstanding student, he earned a double major in chemistry and mathematics from downstate Blackburn College, where he met Jacquelyn (Osterman), his wife of sixty years.
After graduation, Jeff joined a research team at the University of Chicago that studied the structure and function of the optic nerve. He continued in that role until 1974, when his team's principal investigator moved to a different university. Invited to travel with the team, Jeff chose to stay in Chicago and soon found work at Peoples Gas--first at the synthetic natural gas plant near Elwood and later as an executive in the utility's Chicago headquarters.A gifted athlete, Jeff excelled in baseball and football while in school. Later, he took up running, cycling, golf, and tennis. In the last year of his life, he met regularly with friends to play tennis and still found time for his daily pushups.
Jeff was a voracious reader, especially of works on history and current events. After retiring from Peoples Gas, he attended extension classes at Governor's State University. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir, working on home improvement projects, and following his (sometimes grudgingly) beloved Cubs.Above all, Jeff was a loving and devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife Jacquelyn, three children--Paul, Elissa, and Craig--all raised in Park Forest; two grandchildren, Henry and Bennett; his sister, Judi; five nephews and one niece; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary United Protestant Church in Park Forest on Saturday, February 14 at 11 AM.
