Joel B. Saldivar or "Tio" as he was best known as, has passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 52. He was peacefully sleeping and surrounded by loved ones. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, September 18 from 2pm to 8pm at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Westwood Drive, Park Forest, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11am at Lane-Sullivan Funeral Home. Services will be led by Father Tom Brown of St. Agnese Church.
Joel was born in Cotulla, Texas February 24, 1963. Angel and Paula Saldivar, the loving parents with his elder siblings; Elda, Saul, Noe, and his youngest brother Ray Nunez (Belinda) created his family. The family moved up North to Illinois where he attended Summit Hill Jr. High School and met his first love, wrestling. Struggling in Sauls shadow at first, Joel fought hard and ended up placing 1st in Sectionals, District and later 4th in State in 1975. He then went on to Lincoln Way Central High School where wrestling continued and sadly ended, but only made his spirit stronger.
After high school, Joel then started working at Pactive in Frankfort, IL and there is where he met his last but greatest love, his wife Adela. The two settled in Chicago Heights. He continues to live through his two boys Policarpio (24) and Gilbert (21). His later years were spent helping friends and family through rough times with laughter and his life experiences. He won the hearts of anyone who spoke to him. He was loving, strong, and a fighter to the end. He is a hometown hero.
