Spangler, John W. "Jack"
97 year old resident of Matteson passed away peacefully on Monday February 16, 2026. Jack was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Matteson, as well as a local Barber for many decades until retirement. He was known for being very social and always had a story to tell. When he wasn't hanging out and laughing with family at home or in Angola, Indiana at his family lakehouse, you could find him jogging around town, playing or watching tennis matches on tv, or being competitive (and very good according to his many trophies!) playing table tennis and horseshoes weekly. Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lenore whom he was married to for 60+ years. Jack leaves behind 3 children: Kathy Henriksen, David (Patty Tarcak)Spangler, and Russell Spangler; 2 grandchildren: Amy (Christopher) Longo and Gary (Mona) Henriksen; and 4 great-grandchildren: Aubrynn and Mykah Longo, and Ariana and Keon Henriksen. Always crackin' a joke with a big smile on his face, Jack was kind to everyone he met, and will be so greatly missed.
