It is with deep sorrow, yet heartfelt gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Lila May Licka, who departed this life on April 8, 2026, in Chicago, at the age of 81. Born on January 17, 1945, to Louis and Elda Harms (née Rehberg), Lila was a woman whose warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She lived a life rooted in love, connection, and simple joys that blossomed into meaningful memories for her family and friends. Lila is lovingly survived by her devoted children: Doreen Harms; Scott Rigsby (Lori); Vince Rigsby (Nita); Jeff Saltzgiver; Joe Licka (Stephanie); and Dave Licka (Jamie). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Colin, Josie, Kaylie, Samuel, Madison, Dylan, Joseph, and Drew, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Penelope, who brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph F. Licka; her son, Larry K. Rigsby; and her dear siblings. Lila spent much of her life working as a bartender, where her natural gift for conversation and connection shone brightly. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, welcomed, and valued—turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. Beyond her work, she found great happiness in tending to her garden, nurturing flowers that reflected her own gentle and caring nature. Her home was often a place of gathering—a space filled with laughter, storytelling, and love. Lila had a rare gift for bringing people together, and her loyalty and generosity made her a treasured friend to many. Above all, Lila's greatest joy was her family. She loved deeply, gave freely, and lived in a way that made those around her feel truly blessed. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
