Maria Elena Basler was born in Mexico City in 1932. She had three brothers and three sisters. She was raised by two parents of great faith. Her father was a doctor and her mother was in charge of the family business, an office supply store. Maria spent her youth working at the family business with her siblings and mother. Maria met her future husband from Serbia in Mexico City through a mutual friend. She was married in Mexico City in 1969 and moved to Park Forest Illinois, to start a family. Maria raised three boys, two of which are fraternal twins. Her husband Luke, worked at Calumet steel in Chicago Heights Illinois. Maria was a full-time mom and dedicated her life to her family. The best thing about Maria was her faith. She knew the Lord and His Love, and shared it with everyone in her life. Maria's greatest gift was her capacity to love. Maria went to be with the Lord at the age of 92. She was with her three sons and two close friends when she went to be with God. Her passing was a painless and peaceful transition into eternal life.
