Marie Mitchell was born March 28, 1922, in Starksville, Mississippi. She was the last surviving child of eleven children born to the union of the late Robert and Salaney Williams. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She was married to Frank Davis of Mississippi and to this union one child was born, Anna Davis-Howard. She later moved to Kansas City, MO and met and married John Mitchell. In 1949 they moved to Chicago, Illinois which became her permanent home and she joined the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined and served as member of True Faith M.B. Church. Marie was known very well in her community where she successfully operated a Used Furniture and Clothing business. She served each and every customer with the attitude of giving. Helping people in so many ways, from various walks of life was her number 1 goal. Always giving, always serving, Marie Mitchell departed this life on Thursday, July 8, 2010. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Anna Davis-Howard, 5 grandchildren; Velma (Terrance Threatt), Ramona Howard, Serena (Arvon Prentiss) , Will (Nette Howard) and Eric Howard. 23 great grandchildren, 12 great, great grandchildren and a dear friend Mr. Willie Nelson, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Lain-Sullivan Chapel, Park Forest, IL, with Wake at 1 PM and Services at 2 PM . Service Information A service summary is not available
