Michael Edward Simpkins September 23, 1955-January 26, 2022 Mike was born on September 23, 1955, the first child of William and Mary Ruth Simpkins. He graduated from Rich East High School in 1973. Mike chose a career path after high school and became the manager of Jarmin Shoes, where he met Helen Ebert whom he married and shared a daughter. Later, he became a salesman for The Tab Factory and finally, trading sports memorabilia. Mike loved sports- both as a spectator and playing baseball in his younger years and softball as an adult. He enjoyed when he and his father would spend their winters in the south, playing golf and watching spring training games. He was an avid Chicago sports fan. He was instrumental in planning the 90th birthday celebration for his father at a White Sox game- where his father met staff and players and brought out the team lineup card at the start of the game. Mike was kind, intelligent, funny and had a great wealth of sports knowledge. Donations can be made in his name to NAMI and White Sox Charities.
