Naomi "Willean" Smith, age 82 of Sauk Village, IL passed away on Saturday, October 9th lovingly surrounded by her five daughters. Willean was born in Crossville, TN on October 12, 1938, to Omer and Myrtle Lawson. She married Charles Wendel Smith May 4, 1957. They were married 53 years when Charles preceded her in death in 2010. Willean worked several years as a switchboard operator a task that required incredible skill and patience in which she excelled. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Her knowledge of different blooms was impressive. More than anything else, her life was her Lord. In everything she did, she was a woman of God and is now home. Willean is survived by her siblings Glen Lawson, Dalton, GA, Loretta Mansfield, Michie, TN, Melvin Lawson, Schererville, IN, James Lawson, Jackson, TN, Phillip Lawson, Poulan, GA, Linda Aiken, Walker, LA. She is also survived by her five daughters, Rhonda (Wayne) of Oregon, IL, Karen of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Loretta "Lori" (Mike) of Sauk Village, IL, Clara (Don) of Springville, AL and Charlene "Charlie" of Orland Park, IL. Willean is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who affectionately refer to her as Grami.
