Obituary

Paul Lester Anderson (affectionately known as "Crow") passed away at the age of 68 on Sunday, January 18th, in San Antonio, Texas.Paul was born on October 30, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee at John Gaston hospital to the late Ms. LaVera Mae Turner and Mr. Ovis Anderson. He wasbaptized and accepted Christ at an early age and developed a deep and enduring love for scripture, acquiring an exceptional knowledge of the Bible.As a teenager, Paul attended Gage Park High School in Chicago and later worked as a patient transporter at the University of Chicago Hospital. In early adulthood,Paul was blessed with his first child, Paul Ravon Pickens, through his union with Rhonda Pickens. Though their relationship later ended, they remained connectedthrough their shared love and commitment as parents.Paul later met and married Kimberly Staples. Through their union, two children were born: D'Andre and Paules. Prior to their marriage, Kimberly had threechildren—Darmonique, Daveyance, and D'shaunte—who Paul embraced and loved as his own.Paul and Kimberly lived and worked in the south suburbs of Chicago while raising their family, later relocating to Alabama in search of better employmentopportunities. Paul worked as a contractor and painter. Several years later, the family returned to Chicago, where he continued working as a carpenter andfreelance contractor.Paul cherished spending time with his family and close friends and was always available to those he loved. He is remembered as a loving husband, father,brother, and uncle who brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Paul will always be remembered for his warm smile, contagious laughter, humorous spirit,and courageous heart.Paul is survived by his children, Paul Ravon Pickens and Paules Anderson; his stepchildren, Darmonique, Daveyance, and D'shaunte; and his threegrandchildren, Khloe, Poppi, and Brielle Pickens. He is also survived by his brother, Gregory; his sisters, Larintha, Stephanie, and Latrena; his nephews,Phillip, Horace, Morris, Rodney, Medford Jr., and Greg Jr.; his nieces, Ebony, LaVera, Teriah, and Lauren; eighteen grandnieces and grandnephews; one livingaunt, Ms. Claudette Crowder; and a host of cousins.Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kimberly; his youngest son, D'Andre; his mother, LaVera; and his niece, Latanza.
