Perle M. Stephens
Was born February 2, 1919 in Peotone, Illinois and passed away April 25, 2015. She graduated from Peotone High School and was employed for 38 years at the Chicago Heights National Bank in Chicago Heights which is now known as the First Midwest Bank. Perle was a member of Crete United Methodist Church since 1938.
In her retirement years, "Aunt Perle" traveled extensively to many foreign countries as well as most of the U.S. and found America the best place to live.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth M. Stephens whom she married on January 29, 1938 in Chicago by a former Pastor of the Crete United Methodist Church - the Reverend Garfield Dawe. Her late husband Kenneth served as Trustee for the Village of Crete from 1949 - 1953 and was Village President from 1953 - 1961. Perle was also preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Emma Monk, a brother Cecil Monk and sisters Jeanese Bever and Ethel Sippel. She is survived by her nephew Harlyn Bever, cousin Travis Stenning and his children Diane, Dona and Dale and dear friends Tina and Larry Rosine.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Adam Cemetary in Crete, Illinois.
