Phyllis Rowe Barton, age 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Sharon Twardowski; granddaughters, Julie (Robert) Chellios and Jill Rizzs (Todd) Kilby; and great-granddaughter Caitlin (fiance Kurt Unger)Chellios. Phyllis had many crowning achievements throughout her life, but some of the most notable include; founding the Babies Alumni at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital, appearing on the Senate floor to assist in the passing of a fairer law of Osteopathic practice in the State of Illinois, being nationally recognized in 1962 with the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Service to the Osteopathic profession and receiving the State of Illinois Award of Merit in 1996 for Outstanding Senior Service. She also worked for 26 years for Walgreens Pharmacy before retiring in 1984. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Service Information A service summary is not available
