Obituary

On January 21st, 2026, peacefully transitioned in Olympia Fields, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on June 10, 1952 in Granite City, Illinois.Ricky graduated from Granite City Senior High School in 1970 and attended Southern Illinois University until being drafted into the United States Army. Ricky served in the U.S. Army for a total period of 27 years in various capacities and received numerous service awards and medals, serving as an Army Officer (E8), at the time of honorable discharge in 2005.Following military duty, for eighteen years, Ricky served as the Administrator for Lain-Sullivan & Hirsch Funeral Home until retirement in 2025.He will be remembered as a courageous servant who positively impacted the lives of countless people throughout his life and career.He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; children, Angela Serrano Bowles (Tom), Nina Serrano; Step-children, Kristen Blake, Kevin Blake, Jessica Blake, Jon Blake; Grandchildren, Kendra, Christine, Kyle Aaliyah, Christopher, Miguel, and Alayna; Great Grandchildren, Claire, Elaine; Brothers, Richie Serrano and Michael Dickerman; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, February 6th, 2026 from 10:00am until time of Memorial Services, at 11:00am at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Westwood Drive, Park Forest, Illinois 60466.Interment services will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois at 2:00pm with Military Honors.A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at 4:00pm at the Matteson, American Legion, 3539 214th Street, Matteson, Illinois 60443.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Matteson, Illinois American Legion in Ricky's honor.
