Robert W. Lithgow April 27, 1954 – May 12, 2026
Robert W. Lithgow (“Bob”) passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 72. He will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who knew him, and especially by family and friends whose lives were made better by his steady presence, quiet strength, and enduring devotion. Bob never encountered a stranger, but rather a friend he had not yet met, and that generous spirit touched so many throughout his life.Born on April 27, 1954, Robert was raised with values of faith, service, and loyalty that remained with him throughout his life. He was a graduate of St. Agnes Catholic Grammar School and Bloom High School in Chicago Heights. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired as an Airman First Class, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment to others.Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Claudia; his mother, Lorraine; his father, William; his sister, Margaret “Maggi” (Beitzel) Lewis and nephew Tim Lithgow Jr.. Though he experienced profound loss, the love he carried for his family remained a constant part of who he was.He is survived by his siblings, Timothy Lithgow Sr., Mary (Steve) Nugent, and Tom (Carrie) Lithgow; and by his cherished nieces and nephews, Jenni Pirc, Katie Beitzel, Sara (Cody) Dill, Joshua Nelson, Matthew Lithgow, Hillary Lithgow, Jonathan Nugent, Charlie Nugent, Scott Nugent, and Tim Nugent. He leaves behind a family who will continue to hold his memory close and honor the life he lived.Robert’s life was marked by dedication, humility, and love for those closest to him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn him, and may he rest in peace.
