Samuel J. Maselli, age 92, a longtime and cherished resident of Park Forest, Illinois, passed away peacefully. He was the beloved father of Andrew and the devoted husband of the late Meg.
Sam dedicated much of his professional life to education, serving as a respected science teacher at Washington Junior High School in Chicago Heights until his retirement in 1993. His passion for learning extended beyond the classroom, shaping the lives of countless students and colleagues.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Sam carried a lifelong commitment to service. He earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and went on to receive a master's degree from the University of Illinois, further solidifying his dedication to academic excellence.
Deeply engaged in his community, Sam served as past president of the Park Forest Kiwanis Club and contributed his knowledge and enthusiasm as editor of "The Tully," the newsletter of the South Suburban Earth Science Club. He was also a coauthor of two books focused on teaching gifted children, reflecting his enduring commitment to nurturing young minds.
Sam was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Church in Park Forest, where he found fellowship and spiritual strength.
