Sheila "Cheryl" Calloway Cole, beloved mother, sister, and friend, transitioned peacefully on December 1, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois. She was born on September 23, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edcor and Shelly Calloway.Sheila attended Carver High School, where she developed a strong sense of discipline and an incredible work ethic. Known for her sharp financial acumen, Sheila had the remarkable ability to stretch a dime into a dollar with ease. Growing up, she used her talent for doing hair to earn extra income, showcasing both her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.Her passions were many: she loved cooking and expressed her love through the delicious dishes she prepared, always bringing joy to those around her. Sheila also had a deep love for traveling and dancing, embracing life's adventures with an enthusiasm that was infectious. She was a phenomenal bidwhist player, known for her competitive spirit and quick wit, always up for a challenge and making every game a memorable experience. Her love for fashion was reflected in her bold choices and impeccable taste, while her gardening was a testament to her nurturing spirit—each plant thriving under her care, just like everything else she touched. Sheila had a rare ability to infuse magic into the ordinary, turning even the simplest moments into something extraordinary.Sheila worked at Joslyn Manufacturing for 37 years, starting as a punch press operator and later being promoted to a roll thread operator. Her hard work, dedication, and commitment to her job were truly astounding. Throughout her years of service, Sheila never wavered in her determination, even as she endured physical injuries due to the demands of her work. Her resilience and work ethic were a testament to her strength and perseverance, qualities that she carried with her in every aspect of her life.Sheila was a true SHERO. With her bold personality and fun-loving nature, she brightened every room she entered. Her warm hugs and radiant smile turned even the toughest days into something special.In her life, Sheila found joy in the love of her family. She married Simmie Cole, and together they had a beautiful daughter, Nicole Cole. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Shelly Calloway and Edcor Thomas, as well as her sisters Joyce Marks, Gwendolyn Calloway, Irma Calloway, and one nephew, Lamont Calloway.Sheila leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Nicole Cole of Park Forest, Illinois; her seven sisters, Dolores Paschall of Lansing, Illinois, Sandra Calloway of Chicago, Illinois, Kimberly Calloway of St.Petersburg, Florida, Linda Jackson, Gloria Scott, Debra Calloway and Glenece Lee; three brothers, Bennie Calloway (Shirley) of Maywood, Illinois, Thomas Calloway and Michael Calloway; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. She also leaves behind her beloved fur baby, Poochie, who brought her much joy and companionship throughout the years.Sheila will always be remembered for her unwavering strength, her love for family, and her generous spirit. She touched the lives of so many, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.Rest in peace, Sheila. You will forever be missed.
