Sherrie Lynn Ponto, age 51, was born November 19th, 1972, in Hazel Crest, IL and grew up in Park Forest Illinois. She graduated from Rich East High School in 1990.She worked her entire adult life in the optical field, handling people's personal eye care needs and issues, while always maintaining strong work ethic and relationships among clients and staff. It was more than a job to her though, she handled her work with great confidence and delicacy every single day. It was a passion-filled experience for her and became so natural as the years went on. She was a natural self-taught artist, ranging from watercolor, oil, pastel, sketch, and most importantly makeup. Commonly using family members to practice on and perfect her cosmetology skills. She carried another strong passion for music and fashion. She loved to attend large venue concerts such as Morrissey/The cure/Beastie Boys, but also small local up and coming artists. Among friends and family, she was known to be a trendsetter in a time when people often were afraid to differ in hairstyles, makeup and clothing.In 1990 she gave birth to her only child Jacob, being a young mother, she worked a lot, maintained multiple lines of employment to keep up with all the duties that came with being a single mother. Sherrie is survived by her only son Jacob Ponto (Emily), Mother Frances Ponto, Sister Michelle Mills, Brother Ryland Ponto (Teresa). A memorial service will be held at Lain-Sullivan funeral home in Park Forest from 5pm-7pm on January 24th, 2025.
