Shirley Ann Piazza, (nee Kregel) was born on October 1, 1945, in Crete, Illinois to Mildred and Arthur Kregel. She was one of 2 children. She became a member of the Holy Christian Church, the communion of Saints, by virtue of her holy baptism which took place at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crete on October 28th, 1945. On May 3rd, 1959, she affirmed her promise of lifelong faithfulness to the Lord Jesus at her confirmation which also took place at Zion.
Shirley was united in holy marriage to Steve Piazza on June 3rd, 1978. The Lord blessed them with 26 years of marriage together. They were blessed with a son, James Piazza.
Early on in Shirley's life she spent some time as a secretary for a financial office. Shirley enjoyed many things in life, but most of all drag racing with her husband, family and many friends. Spending time with family & friends was a great joy of hers whether it was a vacation, birthday, holiday or other event. She was a caregiver at heart and always cared for many children, adults and animals alike.
Shirley was a resident of Beecher Manor and shared a room with her sister, Rita Clark, for the past year and a half. On Friday, September 13th, 2024 the Lord called home to himself in heaven the soul of his faithful servant, Shirley Ann Piazza at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 13 days.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Rita Clark; one son, James Piazza; nephew, Jeff Clark (Kelly); niece, Nancy Barkhurst (Jim); niece Nicole Potempa (Mike). She is also survived by several great nephews and nieces, sisters in law and brothers in law, and many other family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred & Arthur Kregel and husband Steve Piazza.
