Shirley Elaine (Yarbrough) Wharton was born on August 3, 1942 in Bogalusa, LA to Elnora Williams Yarbrough and Victor Yarbrough, who both preceded her in death along with her brother Victor Yarbrough. She made her transition from this life on Thursday February 2, 2012. Shirley received her education within the Chicago Public School System. As a young girl she loved playing the piano and tuba for family and friends. She also attended Carver and Harlan High School and Wilson Junior College. Shirley was united in marriage October 22, 1966 to Robert L. Wharton, Sr., to this union was born two sons. She was employed as an administrative assistant both in the public and private sectors. Shirley was a devoted mother and wife to her two sons and husband. She was a devout Catholic and attended Saint Dorothy as well as St. Ailbe church for many years until her illness. Her quiet and sweet spirit was expressed through her love for the arts and gardening. Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life here on earth is her loving and devoted husband Robert L. Wharton, Sr., sons Robert (Robbie) and Brian. She also leaves to mourn a sister Michelle Skipper (Marcus), Dallas, TX, a brother LaRon Yarbrough, Chicago and niece Dominique Yarbrough, Dallas, TX, Aunt Maeola Blackman, Detroit, MI, Aunt Imogene Fortenberry, (Lawrence), Washington, DC metro area and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
