Thomas Anthony Schafer, age 51, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 16, 2015. Tom is preceded in death by his father, James Schafer. He is survived by his loving mother, Helene Schafer; siblings, Jimmy, Karyn and Susie; nieces and nephews, Dr. James (Stephanie) Cripe, Briana Schafer, Nick (Maria) Cassano, Robert Schafer and David Cripe; great-nephew, Anthony Cassano; aunts, Judy Franklin and Jill Hoffman and many cousins. Tom was a big animal lover, great story teller, fisherman; he had many many friends and was loyal to all. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 2pm to 8pm at Hirsch West End Funeral Home, 3501 W. Lincoln Highway, Matteson, IL. 60443. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30am with a visitation one half hour prior at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 22400 Torrence Ave, Sauk Village, IL 60411.
