Walter C. Edmisten, III was born August 3, 1949, in Columbus, OH. He passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026 in Brunswick, GA.
Walter was a long-time resident of Park Forest, IL before moving to Brunswick, GA. Beloved husband of 45 years to Eileen V. Edmisten. Loving father of Colette W. Edmisten. Dearest brother of Christine (Dave) Meyer, David (Joan) Edmisten, Sue (Lee) Ayers, and Jeff Edmisten. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Mr. ‘E’, as he was known, had a personality that was larger than life. He never met a stranger and lived a life of service. With his infectious smile and camera in hand, he was always on the sideline at many Marian Catholic High School events, especially with the marching band. He was inducted into the Marian Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 2000 for the Lifetime Achievement award.
He was a man who enjoyed all sports but especially the Chicago White Sox, Dallas Cowboys, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Walter was an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam with the 269th Combat Aviation Battalion, nicknamed the "Black Barons”.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, September 4 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00pm at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Westwood Drive, Park Forest, Illinois 60466.
Walter and Eileen Edmisten will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marian Catholic High School.
