Willie H. Wood was born to the union of Alma Wood and Willie L.Wood. He was baptized at Third Baptist Church in 1966, where he served faithfully in various youth missionary programs. His journey in faith began early and remained a guiding force throughout his life.Willie was educated in the Chicago Public Schools and graduated inJune 1971. Soon after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with dignity and strength.In 1984, Willie married Alma Roberts, and they were blessed with a son,Willie Jr., born in 1986. Willie continued his spiritual journey by joiningSecond Mt. Vernon Church, where he was ordained as a minister. Later, he united with Gwen Hall and welcomed a daughter, India.He worked in several roles throughout Illinois until his health declined. In 2017, he relocated to Florida to be cared for by his devoted son. On May 30, 2025, surrounded by love, Willie peacefully entered rest.He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Willie L.
