Adrian Miller Sr

July 14, 1949 ~ March 28, 2024 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Adrian Garfield Miller Sr., affectionately known as "Bug" to those who knew and loved him, was born on July 14, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. Born to James and Vivian Miller, he was a cherished addition to the Miller family. Though his beloved parents have since passed, their legacy endures through the remarkable life that Adrian led.

A proud product of the Chicago Public School system. Adrian's early life was marked by his active participation in the ROTC and his successful graduation from CVS High School in 1968. It was in these early years that Adrian's path crossed with Christia Harris, the love of his life. Their hearts became one in marriage on September 25, 1971, a union blessed with two adored children, Adrian Jr. and Crystal.

Adrian's professional journey included joining Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a telephone installer, and later as a technician for his nephew, Phillip, at Target Electric Inc. He delighted in sharing his understanding of telephone wires and light fixtures. His intelligence and expertise were as vast as his curiosity and joy in his work.

More than his professional achievements, Adrian was a beacon of knowledge and culture, particularly cherished for his profound love of Chicago's history and jazz music. His soul found expression through the rhythmic beats of the congas, an instrument he played with passion and grace. Adrian's summer were incomplete without the camaraderie and music of the drummers' circle at 63rd Street Beach, where his contributions were recognized with an award from Chicago Drummers Unlimited as an Honorary Member of the Drum Circle.

Adrian's essence was one of love, compassion, and protection. His demeanor was gentle and easy-going, yet he stood as a steadfast protector of his loved ones. His passing on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 10:30PM in South Holland, Illinois, has left a void in the hearts of those he touched. At the age of 74, Adrian left this world, but his spirit and legacy will forever resonate.

He is lovingly remembered by his son, Adrian G. Miller Jr.; his daughter, Crystal D. Miller-Hales; his sister, Tanya Miller, and circle of family and friends too vast to enumerate but deeply cherished. This includes his sister Addie Peterson; brothers Clarence, Hebert, and Avon Peterson, who preceded him in death; his nephews Ronald, Joseph, and Tony; his nieces Linda, Cynthia, Samora, and Sonya; and his beloved grandchildren Jessica, De'Lacey, Jordyn, Destinee, and Jaden, along with the myriad of lives he impacted, including the enduring bonds formed at 53rd Street "The Hole."
