Bernadine (Bernie) Marschke (nee Petrosus) resident of Park Forest, passed away on August 5, 2022. She is survived by her husband Ken Marschke, her daughters Jessica Marschke, Jill Marschke and Jordan Kemp (nee Marschke), her sons-in-law Steve Ringman and Keith Kemp and countless friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Loretta Petrosus and her siblings Matt, Greg and Vicky Petrosus.
She loved her 3 grand-pups Auggie, Sheldon and Nigel like human grandchildren even though she always complained about her clothes being covered in dog hair.
Bernie received her Associates Degree from Prairie State in Early Childhood Education and taught pre-school for many years. She then made several career changes before ultimately working at Heritage Environmental for 20+ years. She loved her work and was recently promoted to a regional office manager to the pride of her family.
Bernie loved spending time with her family and friends chatting, joking and opening a bottle of wine or two. She loved to travel, especially to the Northwoods of Wisconsin with her family or to Vegas with her husband to continue her reign as “The Slot Queen”.
She was an avid reader and spent many evenings and weekends absorbed in a good book (until her beloved husband would annoy her enough to pull her away from it).
Bernie was always willing to help those around her especially when it came to creating beautiful celebrations for showers, birthdays or holidays. She loved Christmas and always looked forward to decorating her Christmas tree with ornaments she’d collected from her travels and those gifted to her by others.
She was a life-long Cubs fan (despite the teasing of her husband) and loved to watch the Cubs win at Wrigley.
Bernie was funny, outgoing, generous and devoted to those she loved. The world is truly dimmer with her spark extinguished and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
