Bobby Thornton

Bobby Thornton age 81 of Park Forest, passed away on February 28th, 2024.  Visitations will be March 8th from 2pm-8pm at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Directors

Funeral services will be held March 9th from 1-3pm at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Directors officiating Pastor Kendell Ford of Woodsonville Missionary Baptist church located in Munfordville Kentucky. Interment will be private.

Bobby Thornton was born in Munfordville Kentucky to Howard Thornton and Emma Maxey on March 4th, 1942. He went to school at Calverna middle school and Chicago vocational High school. He married Barbara Goldstone on July 28th, 1984, in Chicago Illinois. He attended college at Moraine Valley Community College and Illinois Department of Corrections Training Academy. He worked as a Correctional officer for Statesville Prison for 10 years, Will county sheriff’s department for 2 years. He also worked as a Mental Health Technician for the State of Illinois Elisabeth Ludeman Center for 18 years. After his retirement from Elisabeth Ludeman he became a Federal Prisoner transport officer for 2 years. He was involved in multiple Pool leagues. He had won multiple beatification awards for his yard from the city of Park Forest and won the Certificate of appreciation award from Elisabeth Ludeman. He was a “Designated Hitter” for AFSCME.

Bobby Thornton is preceded in death by Howard Thornton (father), Emma Porter(Mother), step father Joe Porter and Special Cousin Wilma Maxie.

Bobby Thornton is survived by wife Barbara Thornton. Daughter Felicia Glasby(Brett), Son Bobby Thornton Jr., Daughter Jeanna Thornton. Sister Mary Brenda Smith and Brother (Cookie). Grand Children Antonio(Evan), Kayla, Jamal, Alexis, Ashley, and Autumn Bowling. Great Grandchildren: Antonio Junior, Cameron, Adrianna, Ajrian, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Savoy, Emri.

Honorary Pallbearers: Brett(Tony)Glasby, Lovelee Walker, Joe Washington, Stan Herbert, Freddie Simpson, AC Simpson, Derrick Jackson, and John Slaton.
