David D. Perkins, Jr., 86, beloved husband of Adele A. Perkins passed away at his home in Flossmoor, Illinois on Saturday January 22, 2022. David was born March 17, 1935 in Peoria, IL.

He was united in holy matrimony on September 3, 1956 to Adele A. (DeFeo) Perkins in Kansas City, MO., after meeting in college. Together they’ve celebrated 65 years of loving marriage.   

 

He is also survived by his 4 daughters: Mary Ann Broadbent (Allen Broadbent), Julia Mosteter (Richard Mosteter, deceased), Elizabeth Kennedy (Patrick Kennedy), Maureen Perkins;

6 grandchildren: Coren Millikan, Scott Broadbent, David Mosteter, Joseph Mosteter, Sean Kennedy, Scott Kennedy; 13 great grandchildren; Siblings: Patricia Perkins,

Nancy J. Matousek (Kenneth Matousek); many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David D. Perkins, Sr. and Frances J. Perkins (nee Bremer), aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

David was a graduate of St. Benedict’s College, Atchison, Kansas, class of 1957, where he met the love of his life, Adele.

He worked for Montgomery Ward for 25 years after which he opened his own business becoming sole proprietor of A&D Home Improvement Company, retiring in 1998. He was a nature lover and an avid outdoorsman. He was also was one of the first Lay Eucharistic Ministers of St. Irenaeus Parish, Park Forest, Illinois where he designed and crafted much of the altar furniture and had been a parishioner for 55 years.

 

David was a proud Army Veteran and a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

He served on the board of New Star Services, formerly Happiday, a provider of services for those whose lives are impacted by disabilities.

 

Memorial donations may be made to: New Star Services, for the benefit of Crawford House where his daughter, Maureen, resides.

 

Visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church on Monday, 31 January, 78 Cherry Street, Park Forest, Illinois with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30. Private internment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
