Don Shank

Don Shank passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, January 6, 2019.

Beloved husband of Deborah “Deb” nee Adams; Loving and devoted father to Josh (Carrie) and Jessica Shank; Cherished grandfather of Quinn and Reese Shank; Dearest brother of Joel (Darlene), Lynnley (John) Wilson, Brad (Mary), Jeff, and Peter (Janice); Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Don was the proud owner of A Recycling America for 13 years in South Chicago Heights.

He was a Head Coach for Rich Wrestling and the Richton Park Raiders, he also served as an Assistant Coach for the Rich East Football Team.

Don was a graduate of Rich Central High School ‘71 , where he was a member of the choir, an all-state wrestler and lettered multiple times on the football team which earned him a full ride scholarship to play football at Georgia Tech University.  While at Georgia Tech Don played middle linebacker for 4 years.

After Georgia Tech Don loved spending time with his family playing horseshoes and ping-pong at his childhood home.  He was also was an avid fisherman and softball player. 

Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Visitation from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11th at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home 50 Westwood Drive Park Forest, Illinois 60466.

Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
