Donald W Hohbach

Donald W. Hohbach age 85 of Crete Illinois passed away on the morning of April 11th, 2022, surrounded by his family and he passed away quietly in his sleep. Don is survived by his loving wife Karen L. Hohbach of 59 wonderful years and his precious children Thomas L Hohbach, Mary K. Hohbach, and daughter-in-Law Deborah A. Zartler  

Donald was born in Germantown, IA on March 2nd 1937 and he will be dearly missed by his immediate family, his granddaughter Natasha Burak, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and anyone he touched throughout his life.

Don was a devoted husband and father. He was a high school biology teacher and taught at Rich Central high school in Olympia Fields, Illinois for 30 years. He also spent his early years teaching at Mt. Carroll High School in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.

After retirement, Don continued to support and devote himself to family and community.  He volunteered to help the homeless by volunteering at PADS. Don was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Forest. He continued to use his hands by teaching himself how to build homes and rehab houses. Don and wife Karen enjoyed traveling the world, hiking in the mountains, playing cards, and attending concerts in the park.  He was an excellent table tennis player, and even dabbled in watercolor painting.
