A longtime resident of Park Forest, Frank Algmin, passed away on September 26, 2022 due to complications from his battle with cancer.
Born in Chicago in 1951, a self-proclaimed free range child, Frank spent his days playing sports outside with neighborhood friends. He attended Myra Bradwell Elementary School and at South Shore High School, his love of sports lead him to letter in both baseball and basketball. MacMurray College is where he earned his Bachelor's degree and met his future spouse. Northwestern University awarded Frank a certificate in Medical Technology which he would build his career around. While working at the VA Lakeside Hospital, Frank enjoyed coaching several teams for Park Forest Boys Baseball. He served during Operation Desert Storm and eventually retired from the United States Army Reserves as a Major.
Preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Dorothy Algmin of Chicago, IL, Frank is survived by his sister Jane (Alf) Howard of Boston, MA, two sons Anthony (Helen) Algmin of Lombard, IL, and Christopher (Kristin) Algmin of Parkersburg, WV, one daughter Allison (Willie) Clarkson of Highland Village, TX, seven grandchildren - Isaac, Justin, Arthur, Noah, Irene, Elaine, and Vincent, former spouse Jan Algmin of Tucson, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
