Helen M Diercouff (nee Floyd), age 88, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2022.
Helen Marcella Floyd was born on September 29, 1934 in Meredosia, IL to parents Raymond Floyd and Minnie Gaddis Floyd. Following the death of her mother, Helen was raised by her Aunt Alta Gaddis-McGavick in Springfield, IL. Helen graduated from Springfield High School in 1952 and continued her studies at Illinois State University. She graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
After graduation, Helen taught second grade in Calumet City, IL. She later worked as a cashier at Sears-Roebuck in Park Forest for many years.
Helen met her future husband, Guy Diercouff, at Illinois State University and they were married in 1956. The couple had three children: Stephen, Kathryn and Susan.
Helen was an accomplished seamstress, cook and decorator. In her later years, she was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and held season tickets for 32 years. Helen also enjoyed doing all kinds of puzzles.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Minnie Floyd, her aunt, Alta Gaddis-McGavick, her husband, Guy Diercouff, sister Audrey Delabruere and brother Bobby Surratt. She is survived by her three children: Stephen of Eugene, OR, Kathryn of Park Forest, IL and Susan (Jeff) Roush of Tullahoma, TN.
Services will be held at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home,50 Westwood Drive, Park Forest, Il.
Visitation Friday, 12/2/2022 from 4:00-8:00pm
Funeral service Saturday, 12/3/2022 at 10:00 with burial immediately following at Skyline Memorial Park, Monee, IL.
