Tribute

James Farrell was born June 1935, in Villa Ridge, Il to James H and Monette Johnson. He was the first of seven children. James graduated from Lovejoy High School in Mound City, Illinois. he also attended Southern Illinois University for two years. 

James Farrell's early years were in Villa Ridge and Carbondale, Il. In 1955, he moved to Jackson, Michigan where he worked for Yardman Industries. the company transferred him to Springfield, Massachusetts where he remained for his working life. He also worked for Ryder Trucking Company until retirement. He recently relocated to Olympia Fields, IL in August of 2021. 

James Farrell served in the United States Military (Army) from February 1961 through February 1965. he was stationed in Fort Still, Oklahoma. 

James Farrell was a handyman; he possessed the skills and tools to make most home repairs and remodeling projects. He often volunteered his services at A.M.E. church in Springfield. His favorite activities were bowling and watching sports on TV, especially the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. 

There were many qualities that James Farrell's loved ones will remember him for. He was friendly, outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He made friends wherever he we went. His caregivers were so fond of him because he loved to joke with them. 

Mr. Johnson leaves to cherish his loving memory the following: longtime friend, Marie, his daughters, Alicia and Tammy and son, James Jr.; brothers: jerry (Marguerite) and Larry; sisters: Joyce, Willett, and Mauryce and a host of other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Monette and his brother, Thelbert.
