Janet Reese Barnes

Janet Reese Barnes, a cherished mother, grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on March 27th at her home in Olympia Fields. No formal services will be held to honor her memory.

Janet was born on November 26th, 1940, in Seattle, WA, to Marjorie and Otto Reese. She spent her formative years in Decatur, IL, and later married William Edward Ousley Barnes on May 29th, 1971, in Chicago, IL. Janet was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where she honed her skills and passion for the food industry in the school of Agriculture. Her journey in the field began at the gas company and culminated in her becoming the proud proprietor of Luncheon Is Served Marketing Services of Illinois.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Janet was involved in various organizations that held significance in her life. She was a dedicated member of DAR, a sister of the Delta Zeta Sorority, and a pillar of support for her beloved church, Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist in Chicago, Illinois.

Janet's legacy lives on through her daughter Elizabeth Burghard as well as her granddaughters Reese and Olivia and niece Stephanie Lane. She is also survived by her sister Jean Lane. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown by chosen family and dear friends shown during this difficult time.

In celebrating Janet's life, we cherish the memories of her strength, kindness, warmth, and unwavering love that touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
