Tribute

Jeff Allen Lane passed on to eternity February 18, 2023, at the Franciscan Health Hospital in Dyer, IN.

Jeff was born in Harvey, Illinois on August 9, 1977, to Patricia Martens and Chuck Lane. He grew up in in the areas of Country Club Hills, Lansing, and Glenwood, Illinois where he excelled at baseball earning many different accolades and a nickname of the “Glenwood Legend”. In 1995 he graduated from Marian Catholic High School.

After high school he was as an iron worker through the Chicago Union where he assisted in the construction of many high-rise buildings. He moved with Chelsea to North Carolina for the birth of his daughter Corabelle Marie Lane-Kyger in 2002. While in North Carolina he earned his accounting degree from Brookstone College of Business. He would later move to Covington, IN where he resided for many years. In 2008 Jeff and Cara gave birth to his son Brody Michael Lane.

Jeff was an avid sports fan often watching whatever game he could find. He closely followed the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini. He was involved with sports in many ways. Coaching young players, especially Brody’s teams, gave him such joy in life. He enjoyed taking trips to Wisconsin to go fishing and golfing where you could often find him during the summer. And he always cherished his time drafting teams for fantasy football with his close friends every year. But nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his two kids, Corabelle and Brody. 

Jeff never knew a stranger, making friends with everyone he crossed paths with. He was always a very kind and giving person willing to help anyone who needed it. His witty humor, big smile, and giving nature were why he was beloved by so many.

He is survived by; his parents Patricia Martens and Chuck (Debbie) Lane; children Corabelle Lane-Kyger and Brody Lane; brother Robert Lane; stepbrothers George (Beth) Martens, Matthew (Kathleen) Martens; stepsister Lilah (Lee) Ewan; aunt Patricia Kowalski; uncles Ralph (Susan) Pasciak, Larry (Linda) Pasciak, Mike (Tina) Pasciak; and a host of cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by; grandparents Henry & Florence Pasciak and Corabelle & Levi Lane; stepfather George Martens; uncle John Kowalski; and his beloved dogs Ozzy & Odin.

A celebration of life will take place on March 11th at noon central time at Tuscan Pub and Banquets, 601 Holbrook Rd in Glenwood, Illinois. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Franciscan Health Hospital in Dyer, IN for their kindness and care.
