JoAnne Yapp (nee Gunderson) was born on the north side of Chicago on September 6, 1947, to Paul Gunderson and Jane Reimers. Her family moved to Glenview, where she attended Maine East High School. After graduation, Jo Anne went to the University of Illinois. It was on a blind date that she met William Yapp. They married and moved to Park Forest in 1968.
JoAnne then attended Prairie State University and graduated in 1979 with a Nursing degree. Eventually, she became an office RN at Suburban Heights Medical center. She worked there for many years, where her duties included oncology nursing.
After Suburban Heights, she worked for Vitas Hospice. At Vitas, she continued in cancer care until retirement.
She was active at St Irenaeus church in many capacities for over fifty years.
Her many friends brought great joy in the last months of her life.
Jo Anne is survived by her two children, John and Kristi, both of Park Forest, and five grandchildren, Margert, James, Elijah, Milan, and Marko. One grandchild, Steven, is waiting for her in heaven.
Services will be at Lain Sullivan at 12:00 0n December 23.
