Hager – Mildred “Millie” nee Medley, pioneer resident of Park Forest, IL in 1948, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018 at the age of 101 years. Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Hager; loving mother of Robert (Christine), Richard, James (Sharon), Charles (Shirley) and John (Dawn) Hager; cherished grandmother of Amy (Brian) Ahern, Chad (Tracy) Hager, Nicole (Tom) Hunter, Lisa (Lorran Ross) Hager, Jason (Ivy) Hager, Valerie (Rich) Henning, Eric (Beth) DeVillez, James (Liz) Hager, Ross (Susan) Hager, Kelly (Jason) Richards, David Hager, Jennifer (Greg) Basta, Joshua Hager, Jonathan Hager and the late Sean (Mandy) Hager; proud great-grandmother of Emma, Jaden, Brady, Alex, Molly, Adeline, Kaylyn, Savanna, Erik, Isabelle, Kayleigh, Lawson, Cole, Isabelle, Corbin, Gabriella, Annette, Nicholas, Benjamin, Cassandra, Jack, Kate, Joey, Max, Nate, and the late Charlie and Tyler; loving mother-in-law of Eleanor Hager.
Mildred was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Nurse’s Corps from 1941 to 1945 and practiced as a registered nurse until the age of 75. She was one of the founding members of the Park Forest Nurses Club, and she volunteered many hours at St. Irenaus and St. Lawrence O’Toole schools and churches. Mildred touched many, many, many lives during her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings and was the dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, June 9, 2018 for a Memorial Visitation at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 4101 Saint Lawrence Avenue, Matteson, IL 60443 at 10 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m.
A private interment will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Illinois Veteran’s Home, 1 Veteran’s Drive, Manteno, IL 60950 would be appreciated.
