Robert Murry, age 98, was born on August 10,1923, in Drew, Mississippi, to Ophea (Jones) Murry and Willie Watson Murry. He was one of 10 children born to this union, all of which preceded him in death.
He made his spiritual transition on October 21,2021.
During his lifetime Robert was committed to working hard and being punctual. This was evident when he was hired as a machinist for D & W Manufacturing, soon after arriving in Chicago from Mississippi,. He was employed there for nearly 40 years before retiring.
It was also after journeying to Chicago that he met Josephine (Strong) Hodges and from this union three children were born: Jesse (Fat Jaw Jesse), Michael (Manish Tail Mike), and Brenda (Bad Brenda). All endearing names given by their father.
Three things that Robert loved dearly in life were dressing up, attending church services and country music.
He accepted Christ at an early age in Greenwood and attended services regularly after coming to Chicago, mostly on the west side, which is where he resided for most of his life in Chicago.
His last years of life were spent in Cedar Ridge Apartments (Richton Park), where he developed many bonding friendships.
He was loved and cared for by his children and was able to bond with each of them in his own way through the years.
He leaves to cherish his memory three children,: Jesse (Crystal), Michael (Trina) and Brenda. Six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
