Velma M. Albert

Velma M. Albert, age 84, resident of Joliet IL, formerly Shorewood/Buckley IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday March 28th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur L. Albert, her parents Lawrence and Ida Trenary, two sisters: Edith Umland and Joyce Crow. Velma was a loving mother of Elizabeth (Gary) Glapa, Arthur (Kimberly) Albert Jr, Cathy (Mark) Younglove. Fond Sister of Robert (Carol) Trenary and Lawrida (Dick) Gilliam. Cherished grandmother of Valerie (Keenan), Steven (Sarah), Amy, April (Frank), Ryan, Melissa, Olivia, and Zachary. Beloved great grandmother “GiGi” of Cesar, Cassandra, Sebastian, Cole, Paige, Tori, Chloe, Briannon, Dillan, Zoey, Caiden, James, Dominic, and Charlie. Proud great great grandmother “GiGi” of Carter, Sebastian Jr, and Hudson.  

Velma was an avid Cubs fan and a dedicated game show watcher. She enjoyed gardening and loved watching hummingbirds from afar. Her diet consisted of her favorite puff corn and dove dark chocolates. Velma made friends wherever she went, and never met a stranger. She spent her remaining years making lasting friendships at the Timbers of Shorewood.  She also loved completing puzzles and playing cards “the Albert way.” Velma always knew her way around a dice game. She loved her family unconditionally and her favorite saying was “I love you more.” Velma was known for running through the list of generational names before she got their name correct, we just knew to respond to whatever name we were called. She forever impacted everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.  

Visitation will be held Monday April 4th 2-7pm at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home at 50 Westwood Drive Park Forest, IL 60466. Funeral Service Tuesday April 5th at 11:00am at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home – see above. Interment at Skyline Cemetery Monee IL.
