William (Ishmael) James Duncan

Tribute

With profound sadness we announce the passing of William James Duncan (Ishmael), our loving, devoted father and and friend to all whose lives he touched, on July 25,2022. He left us while sleeping peacefully at his residence in Mount Prospect, IL. He was in his 73rd year. He was born April 26,1949, in Cook County; a son of the late Claudia Mae and Willie Duncan. 

He confessed Christ at an early age at Community Lutheran Church and years later in his adult life he became Muslim and referred to himself as Ishmael.  

Ishmael graduated from Hugh Manley Highschool in Chicago, IL. He was a father and a hard worker. He was employed with the park district of Arlington Heights for over 10 years until his retirement. He enjoyed numerous activities like fishing, bike riding, and cooking. Ishmael was a talented artist. He painted in his spare time and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

Ishmael was predeceased by his mother Claudia Mae Duncan, his father Willie and sister, Adeline Lawrence. He leaves to cherish his memory; one brother, Vernon Duncan; one sister, Mary Duncan; three sons, Ishmael Duncan (Jennifer) of Magnolia Arkansas, Patrick Duncan (Sheryl) of Memphis Tennessee and Ishmael Duncan (Susan) of Palatine, IL; two daughters, Shontel Ross (Brian) of Bolingbrook, IL and Simone Duncan (Mikey) of Rosemont, IL; seven granddaughters, six grandsons, and a host of other family and friends.
